What happened to summer?

Gosh it seems like school just ended and I was packing up my classroom. I am still unemployed so it seems weird to not be setting up my room. For the last 8 years I have had a classroom and now nothing! :( It's bittersweet for sure! I love the beginning of the year, the first day excitement and meeting all those cute new faces! I am still keeping my fingers crossed that I will be called back but it may be after the school year has begun.

So onto other things...we have been super busy the last few weeks. It seems like just about everyday we had a lunch date or somewhere to go. About a week and a half ago my aunt's arrived from Hungary. It's there first visit to the US. They are enjoying every minute! We haven't had a lot of time to see them though. My parents took them to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas last week. This week they are staying with my other aunt so hopefully next week we can finally do something with them.
This was taken the night they arrived. From left, my aunt Elizabeth, my mom, Daniel and I, Teri, and Vera.

I have also been busy making invitations for my future sister in law's bridal shower. they are finally ready to be mailed out this week! I will share them after I send them out. Don't want her to see them yet!

I do have some favorites from the baby album I made in July for my cousin Veronica. Her baby was born on the night I finished the album! Perfect timing!! I made an 8x8 album and I think I made somewhere around 20 pages. I wanted to keep the pages next to each other the same paper but I love to make it colorful, fun and different for each month. SO only one set turned out the same.

This is a quick card I made for my friend Holly. While visiting from Kansas we met up for lunch one day and she surprised me with a large gift bag of scrapbook paper and embellishments! I used the flower paper that she gave me for this card! this is a lift from a Danielle Flanders card I saw a long time ago.

happy Monday!

New pages to share!

It's been a little while since I have posted and I have a lot of new pages to share. First, about two weeks ago I went with my close friend Michelle L. for a much needed crop night! It was on a Saturday from 4-midnight! I made it till about 11:30 and got 5 pages done!! I was pretty happy with that, considering my first page took like 2 hours! We had a great time and had a lot of laughs!

Then last Friday we wanted to go to another crop but we were the only two so it didn't happen at the store. SO I went to Michelle's for our own crop! It was fun, Michelle's got her own store there. haha She was kind enough to share a little with me! I was able to try out her sillouette, well she did most of the work!!! We made the pumpkin and the turkey using it! I really liked that machine! Anyway here are the three pages I got done there. I also started a card and finished it Saturday but mailed it without taking a photo.

So I think I am done with my fall pictures finally! I also finished a gift last week that i can't sure yet but it turned out cute! Will post those soon! I will be back soon! Thanks for stopping by!

I scrapbooked!!

I have been wanting too but Joe put all my stuff away before Daniel's birthday party. It was hard to get to so I just didn't do it. But last night I pulled it all back out and put it in the dining room. I had also gone to Big Lots yesterday and found some Thickers and buttons, so that's kinda what inspired me to do a page or two. I did an 8x8 that I can't share yet, it's for a gift. Here is the page I did last night for Daniel's book.

I hope to do some more tonight! Bye for now!

Hey there

Hope you all had a great 4th of July! We did! We celebrated on Friday and Saturday. Friday we had a bbq,our parents, Joe's brother and his family, and my friend Michelle and her daughter all came. We ate and walked to the park for fireworks and a funnel cake!!! We almost missed the darn firworks because the line was so stinking long.
On the 4th we had a neighborhood bike parade early in the morning. This was the second year we had it and sooo many more people turned out! It was fun. We got a little bike trailer to pull Daniel in. He loved it! In the early afternoon we headed to Joe's brother's house. They were also having a neighborhood bike parade, but much larger than ours. There were people from one side of the street to the other with bikes. It was almost hard to ride your bikes. It was fun though. We had a bbq when we got back and fireworks in the evening. It was a long day for sure! We were all super tired today. Daniel napped for 3 1/2 hours. I took an hour nap too. But we did manage to take a bike ride back to the park before dinner. We need to start exercising for my brother's wedding so we are going to ride our bikes everyday. We will see if we do! :)
I was really bad with taking pictures yesterday, it was too hard to carry the camera around and watch Daniel. Here is one with his cute cousin Hanna.

And one that is not very good waiting to go on a bike ride after dinner last night.

Ok one more thing to share. While in Oregon at my cousin's house we had coleslaw, her 17 yr old son actually made it. It was really yummy! It's supposed to be the same as KFC coleslaw and I think it's pretty close. I made it on Friday and Saturday and it was a hit! I doubled the recipe. It can be a little runny, so the second time I made it I used half the amount of milk. A few family members asked for the recipe so I thought I'd just share it here.

Finely chop cabbage.(I used the bag of coleslaw mix and just chopped it a little more) Mix in large bowl the following:
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar
2 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp minced onion

Mix all ingredients thoroughly, add coleslaw, mix and refrigerate

Enjoy!

final Oregon post

Day 7: Saturday - my grandma's ("Nagymama" in HUngarian) memorial
Saturday morning we woke up and left my cousin Chris' house and drove about 2 hours toward Salem, OR. We didn't go into Salem but right before we got there we turned at the Saintam SP? River. This was my grandpa's favorite fishing spot, at least one of his favorites. It was a little rainy on the drive over but it was just cloudy when we got there. We had lunch when we first got there and the guys went fishing of course. After we visited and such we decided to do what we came to do, spread both my grandparents ashes. It was very emotional for me, if you know me I'm a cry baby!! haha But seeing a bag with both their ashes was not pretty! My dad and uncle each did one grandparent. We said a prayer and talked about my grandparents and what great people they were. Also we would not be here if it wasn't for them escaping Hungary more than 50 years ago, really a neat story. So here are some pictures of the day.

This is all of us walking back to our cars, but just about here we saw a man fishing. When he first walked by he wasn't having any luck he said but this time he was pulling in a huge fish! We all thought my grandpa gave him good luck!

It was a great day and a great way to remember them both. They both loved Oregon and their wishes were always to have their ashes spread here. Some didn't agree with it but that's what they wanted.
Most of my family headed home but my Uncle Joe stayed with my family and the guys went fishing. They wanted to try their luck. But nothing! So we headed back towards my aunts' house. We made one stop, can't remember the name. It was really green and beautiful! The guys hiked to a spot to fish. Daniel, my mom and I stayed behind. Here are a few pictures.

The guys came back just in time, it starting to rain, so we headed home. We got back late and started packing for the drive the next day.

Day 8: Sunday
On the road again!!! We left my aunt's house at 5:30am. My brother's also left at this time but on a flight! We only stopped for gas and food. We made it home at 8:30 that night! We were beat! The next day we slept in and even took naps! We were sad to leave Oregon but happy to be in our own beds! Joe really loved Oregon, and we really want to go back again soon.

More trip blogging

Day 4:Wednesday

This morning we checked out of our cabin and headed back to Lava Lake. Daniel woke up real early so on the short drive there he fell asleep. That was fine with me since it was early and cold out. The guys went out in the boat so I parked the truck and played on Joe's laptop for over an hour, enjoying the beautiful view too! Joe fished there for a few hours and headed back in. We decided to start to head towards my aunts' house in Bend. We took a different road and found snow!! It really wasn't all that cold but it's still there! They had more snow this year than years past so I guess that's why it's still there. We stopped and played for a little while.

We got into town and got a quick bit to eat. WHile sitting there I started to remember that my grandma used to live right around the corner. It has been over 10years since she lived at that house but I found it!! It was like she was still there. I have so many memories of both my grandparents from when we used to visit it was neat remembering them as we went to some of the places we went with them. Ok back to what I was saying. We found her old house and drove to my aunt and uncle's. We settled in and my aunt, Daniel and I went shopping! I found a few things. Shoes, a top and some things we needed. The great thing in Oregon is there in NO sales tax! So we headed back to the house for dinner and just relaxed. My parents flew in that night but we were too tired to wait up for them.

Day 5: Thursday
I didn't take any pictures today! :( Bummer! Both of my brother flew in today. My dad first picked up Eric. We then all went to downtown Bend to a candy shop where my cousin Andy works. It's really cool. I wanted my camera so badly but I left it at home. We left there and went back to the airport, not good planning if you ask me, to get my younger brother Jimmy. We all met back at the house and the guys decided to all go kayaking. I stayed behind with my mom, aunt and Daniel. After Daniel's nap we went shopping. We went to the Old Mill District. They have some really good stores. I found a ton of great sales. I got some cute stuff at GAP! Love that store, when I paid she asked if I was using my GAP card and I was, so I got an extra 25% off! I ran back for another pair of shorts! ANd nO sales tax!

Day 6: Friday
Today we drove North to my cousin Chrissie's house. Her and her husband live in a log cabin. It is the most beautiful house ever! I loved it! I could live in a log cabin like that! Their property is very nice and has a great view of the mountains, well except for the little house in the way. Someone moved in and built a 3 story house kind of blocking some of the view, but still a nice view! :) After chatting a little and getting a tour we decided to go fishing of course. We went not to far to Prineville Reservior. It was a little rainy out but cleared up for us. The clouds were awesome.

The girls headed back a little before dinner to get ready. The rest of the family was coming to her place for dinner. The guys came back and we had a BBQ. This is my favorite picture of Daniel from our trip!! Such a boy!

Did you notice he wore his shoes out while we where away?
Chris' husband is a cop and has a K-9 dog named Rocky. He is really a friendly dog. He did a little demonstration using their son Tylor. Tylor put on a sleeve and Brad had the dog attack him! Crazy!

Daniel getting into trouble!! Not sure what is all over his mouth!

A few more days to write about later! Good night!!

More of our trip

Day 2: Monday
Monday morning we left our motel at about 6:30 and headed into Oregon. It didn't take long to get into Oregon.

We took a super nice scenic route to get to our next stop, South Twin Lake. We were meeting my Uncle Joe there. We drove along the Rogue River, which is totally beautiful! We talked that we could live somewhere near it because it's amazing. I didn't really get any good pictures though.

Mt. Theilson
We got to the lake and meet my Uncle sometime after noon. We rented a cabin there for two nights. He was waiting for Joe to go fishing. We hadn't gotten his fishing license yet so we all went back into twon to get one. They went fishing in Uncle Joe's boat for a few hours before dinner. We went to bed pretty early again, we were all exhausted!
Day 3: Tuesday
We decided to all go fishing today. It was hard for me to stay behind yesterday because where we stayed was not baby friendly. So we headed to Lava Lake and found a spot for me and Daniel to hang out. Joe caught a fish shortly after we got there.

Daniel and I made a friend, a friendly squirrel! We fed him Daniel's snacks.
Once we got hungry we left and went back to the cabin to meet my cousin Steve. We then headed to East Lake. it was a little cooler here. Steve was catching fish left and right, most were too small to keep. All three guys brought one home from here though.

We headed back to the cabin about dinner time and called it a night early again!! We are getting old, or maybe it's just that we have a baby!!
be back with more later!

Our vacation

We just got home a few days ago from a road trip to Oregon. We went to visit with my family and also to have a memorial for my grandma who passed away 6 months ago. We had a great time and the time flew by, we weren't ready to leave yet.
Day 1, Sunday 6/14 We left at 2AM and drove to San Francisco. We made it there by about 8AM. We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and stopped for a quick picture.

We stopped there for breakfast and got gas. We continued up the coast and headed for the Redwoods. Daniel was really good in the car. He slept a lot and was up some too!

We took Daniel's little train that he loves to push around, good thing we did, he used it the whole trip! This is him at a rest stop in Northern CA.

We made in to the Redwoods in the afternoon and pretty much just drove through it. It was a little rainy out. We did stop once and walked on a little trail to take pictures of course!

We stopped that night in Crescent City, near the Oregon border. We had already booked a room before we left. We got dinner and went straight to bed. It was a really long day but really a gorgeous drive!!
It's late so I promise to be back with more of our trip tomorrow!! Good night!
